Our Story

(This will be broken down by BYUI semesters... Fall is Sept-Dec, Winter is Jan-April, and Spring is April-July.)

Spring 2011

We were placed in the same FHE group at BYU-Idaho.
He was the FHE Dad and my roommate, Jackie, was the FHE Mom.

Neither of us paid much attention to the other. I had a terrible habit of skipping FHE. When I did go, I spent most of my time causing trouble with Brooke, my roommate. He remembers me as loud and crazy.

He was taking a Humanities class that semester and had a teacher he didn't like. He complained about it on Facebook and Twitter. I would comment from time to time on the things he posted.

During this semester he received his mission call to the California Ventura Mission. He made a post on Facebook asking for people to send him their addresses if they wanted him to write. I like getting mail, so I sent him my address.

Fall 2011

About halfway through fall semester, I decided I should write him. I had no idea what to write because I barely knew him. So I wrote a little letter on a pre-made card, but failed to send it until a month later. (I'm extremely bad at getting things INTO the mail.) When he received it, he wrote me back.

Winter 2012-Spring 2013

We wrote back and forth for the rest of his mission.

HE CAME HOME FROM HIS MISSION!

August 2013

One night, shortly after he came home he decided to ask me how life was on Facebook Chat. We ended up talking for a few hours. Then a few days later we talked for a couple more. And then again a few days later. After a while we began talking every night until the wee hours of the morning.

Fall 2013

He visited me in Rexburg. This was the first time we'd seen each other since the end of Spring 2011. I was insanely nervous and I didn't know what to expect. He later told me that he was so nervous he messed up a few notes in his musical number at church that morning. When he got here, we played some Phase 10, ate some pie that my roommate made, then walked around campus--talking the entire time about random stuff. We spent at least two hours sitting outside the Spori building just talking. He had planned on telling me that he liked me that night, but was too scared.

September 17th, 2013

I had my first day of classes (he was off track) and all I could think about was him. After class, we decided that we would figure out another time for him to come visit me. He had wanted to talk about his feelings for me in person, but somehow in the middle of deciding when he'd come visit again, he told me. "So do we call this a relationship?" -Ethan
